Rotation Project
I started the Graduate studies in the Genetics Program at
Michigan State University in January 2001. I did my third rotation
(July. 2001 - Sept. 2001) in Dr. Tim Zacharewski's Lab (most
of the time I was working in Dr. John LaPres's lab). During
this time I was associated with the NIA15K Microarray preparation,
which was part of the Toxicogenomics Project. The work involved
the preparation of the clone DNA using PCR and preparing them
for Microarray printing after confirming the quality of the
PCR product. It was a wonderful experience to work with the
TRZ lab mates. I have worked with both Jasmine and Joanne on
the microarray preparation. Apart from this work I started doing
cell culture using mouse Hepa cell lines. The basic aim of the
work was to find the toxicity of different metals such as Cobalt,
Nickel, Chromium and Cadmium on these cells. I also did some
preliminary experiments to standardize the Real-Time PCR using
Ambion Cell-to-cDNA kit. Finally I was also involved with the
cloning of a number of mouse genes using RT-PCR for the Mouse
Chip.
