Research Project
My current research project involves studying the effects TCDD in vitro using the Hepa1 mouse hepatoma cell line. Cells were treated with 10nM TCDD or vehicle and then harvested at 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 24 and 48 hours after dosing. Using cDNA microarrays to obtain global gene expression changes over the time course, we hope to utilize a systems biology approach to identify the key components of the AHR signaling pathway. This research is aimed at complementing our in vivo studies in the hopes of determining whether or not cell lines adequately measure the response to TCDD, as compared to in vivo studies.
