Research Projects

The project I’m currently working on is the "Comparative Analysis of AhR-Mediated Gene Expression Responses Elicited by TCDD and Indolo(3,2-b)carbazole in Murine Hepatoma Cells ". This project involved conducting a dose-response and time course experiment with ICZ in Hepa1c1c7 cells. For the dose-response, cells were dosed with 0.01, 0.1, 1, 10, 100 and 1000 nM ICZ and harvested after 12 hours. For the time course, cells were dosed with 1000 nM ICZ and harvested 1, 2, 4, 8, 12, 24 and 48 hours after treatment. The global gene expression changes elicited by ICZ were quantified using custom cDNA microarrays containing 13,361 features. The results of these studies are being characterized and compared against the responses elicited by TCDD in order to identify compound-specific and compound conserved responses mediated.

Other projects that I have been involved with include:

• Verified gene expressions responses in Hepa1c1c7 elicited by BNF through quantitative real-time PCR
• Participated in the harvesting of tissues for in vivo studies
• Assisted in the oligonucleotide expansion of the rat cDNA microarray platform
