Research Projects
Under the supervision of Dr. Lyle Burgoon, my primary focus
in the Zacharewski Lab has been the creation of the dbZach Dashboard
– a rich client application based on the Eclipse platform.
The goal of the dbZach Dashboard is to integrate all bioinformatics
software tools used by members of the lab into a single, user
friendly application.
I have participated in various aspects of the software design
process, including the development of use cases, and was also
given the opportunity to conduct a user elicitation meeting.
In artificial intelligence, an ontology consists of a controlled
vocabulary describing a specific knowledge domain and the semantic
relationships between the entities within the domain. The next
major step in the development of the Dashboard is the construction
of the dbZach Ontology to aid in the creation of a standard
file format that can be read and understood by all software
tools available in the dbZach Dashboard.
