Comprehensive course-work and diverse departmental seminars.
Writing workshops - Currently, three graduate students are meeting with me weekly to
practice scientific writing. We work on manuscripts, proposals and essays focused on the
students' research area.
Practice in oral presentations - every group meeting and journal club is an opportunity for you
to improve your effectiveness as a speaker. This practice will be useful when you present
research at conferences, give job seminars, and learn how to teach.
Attendance at scientific retreats and scientific meetings.
Teaching experience in biochemistry.
Opportunities to mentor younger students and undergraduates.
