Notes and Changes (from Janel): 

 

          -- Welcome Vishal Malhotra as the new president of the Undergraduate BMB club!

          --“Professor of the Month” is a fun project proposed by Katie Porter and is further 

               explained below.

Projects Update:

I.                     Develop the BMB club website

q       Mission Statement & Bylaws

Vishal has looked into officially registering the BMB club with the University and written up the bylaws for that purpose. After clearing the bylaws and mission statement with Dr. Burton we will have this information available as a link from the BMB club website.

        

II.                   T-shirts

We need some finished designs! People have promised to give this more attention over Spring break, hence we will postpone the decisions until the March meeting.

 

III.                 Web page and links for Scholarships, Internships and Fellowship opportunities

This project will be launched cooperatively by Vishal, Janel, Eli and Woo within the next couple of weeks. Club input will be asked for at the next meeting.

 

 

IV.                 Profiles of BMB undergraduates

Janel proposed that Hughes scholars majoring in BMB be given a questionnaire to fill out as a start for this project. Questions will be finalized and distributed at the February 26, 2002 Hughes meeting, then made available to club members to aide with additional interviews. 

 

V.                   Professor of the Month

 

Idea proposed by Katie Porter, in the interest of getting to know our professors! Choose a professor to interview each month, asking questions such as favorite foods, hobbies, etc. then put the info with a picture of the prof. onto the BMB website (“Professor of the Month” link). Club members will choose the “victims” at BMB club meetings and take turns interviewing the prof. Katie Porter will organize and oversee this project.
